It's an opportunity to build client relationships, win exciting new projects, and shape the future of a respected and growing transportation engineering firm.

As a leader within our Syracuse office, you'll oversee the delivery of structural design services for high-profile transportation projects while partnering with clients, teaming partners, and industry stakeholders throughout the region. You'll work alongside experienced technical leaders and office leadership to identify new opportunities, strengthen market presence, and expand the firm's impact across New York.

We're seeking a results-oriented professional who thrives on building relationships, leading teams, and transforming opportunities into long-term success. If you have an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional infrastructure solutions, you'll find tremendous opportunity for growth and recognition in this role.

The ideal candidate will have:

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Identify new project opportunities utilizing network connections and market research.
  • Proactively meet with current and prospective clients to maintain relationships and identify future needs.
  • Collaborate to develop teaming and operational strategies in response to market or client needs, including identifying and negotiating with teaming partners.
  • Lead and support pursuit efforts, including preparation of technical proposals, participation in interviews, and securing contracts.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for project delivery, including staffing and resource planning; selectively serve as Project Manager on strategic or complex assignments.
  • Support the growth and development of the Structures design team, including mentoring, technical guidance, and participation in hiring efforts.
  • Attend conferences and networking events and develop new leads.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as a primary client interface for select projects and market initiatives.
  • Provide oversight of staffing, scheduling, and delivery across assigned structures projects, in coordination with project managers.
  • Act as a concurrent project manager of many basic projects, a few intermediate projects, and one or two complex projects.
  • Review project documents for technical quality, consistency, and QA/QC.
  • Develop or promote improved processes, techniques, or design approaches.
  • Assist senior management and staff as technical specialist and advisor.
  • Represent the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to project engineers and staff engineers.
  • Support project financial performance through oversight of schedules, scopes, and budgets.
  • Lead or support public meetings in complex projects.
  • Provide coordination for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Assist in developing intermediate and complex proposals and attend proposal interviews.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering.

  • Active member of a professional practice organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in structural design, project delivery, and/or market development.
